The orbicularis oris is a sphincter muscle around the mouth that pulls the lips downwards and inwards. Relaxing the upper portion of the orbicularis oris results in a slight outward shape to your upper lip. The lip flip treatment with anti-wrinkle injections is a great way for patients to experience fuller looking lips without being as invasive as fillers. Another benefit of this treatment is that it softens the vertical perioral lines. A lip flip generally requires low doses between 6 to 12 units of Brand X or Brand B.

You will start to notice effects from around 3 to 5 days. The effects generally last 2 months. You may be unable to whistle or use a straw for the next few days following a lip flip. People who play musical instruments that require a certain mouth position may not like the feeling of the orbicularis oris muscle being relaxed.
